St. Catherine of Siena 1347 - 1380 Canonized in 1461 Declared a Doctor of the Church in 1970
You cannot share with others what you do not have yourself. -St. Catherine |
To contemplate and to share with others the fruits of contemplation
This particular Dominican motto is at the heart of our mendicant Order. St. Dominic's inspiration was to unite a contemplative life with an apostolic life. No longer confined to a monastery or cloister, this marriage compels a true Dominican to be both contemplative and apostolic.
We participate daily in the following:
- Celebrate the Eucharist
- Chant the Liturgy of the Hours
- Recite the Rosary daily
Likewise, we daily feed our minds and hearts by
- Meditation and contemplation of the mysteries of our redemption
- Devotion to Eucharistic adoration
- Study of the Scriptures
Other features of our prayer include the following:
- Remembering deceased members of our families, our congregation, and the entire Order as we daily pray Psalm 130, the DeProfundis, after each liturgical hour.
- Honoring our deceased parents, the Dominican Order and our benefactors on three special days in the Dominican calendar.
- Singing the Salve Regina (Hail Holy Queen) intercedes with Mary at the end of each day.
