The intellectual life feeds each aspect of our Dominican life: prayer, community life and in particular, preaching and teaching. We begin and end study with prayer. In our struggles to know Truth, we might experience study as purposeful and rewarding or as penitential and discouraging.
Our Lady of the Springs Dominicans sisters have studied in a wide diversity of fields and in many different graduate schools. Our education ministry requires that we be knowledgeable in all aspects of Truth. Our teaching thus achieves its purpose of transmitting the light of Truth to others.
A favorite prayer before beginning study is one written by our brother, Thomas Aquinas.:
Prayer before Study.
